I've always loved helping people learn! I've spent over 15 years teaching others, including 9 years as a credit counselor and 7 years as a dance instructor. Eventually, I decided to share my Korean culture through teaching, too! Since starting KoreanLearnin 5 years ago, I've taught over 1,100 students.
As a Korean American who grew up speaking Korean first, I know how confusing it can be to learn a new language. I remember sitting in English-speaking classrooms and feeling completely lost.
That's why I teach Korean differently. Instead of explaining everything in Korean and expecting you to figure it out, I explain concepts in English, step by step, so you understand not just what to say, but why it works. You'll never hear me say, "That's just how it is!" in my class!

Hi! I'm a native Korean speaker studying linguistics at Korea University. I've studied English, French, Japanese, and Chinese, so I understand what it's like to be in your shoes, learning a new language.
I've been teaching Korean for over a year now, helping students improve their pronunciation, speak more naturally, and feel confident using Korean in everyday life.
Mr. Calvin personally trained me. We teach the same curriculum using the same teaching style, so you'll get the same great classes with either of us!
My classes are friendly, encouraging, and full of speaking practice and real-life examples. I'm also a huge K-pop fan (especially BLACKPINK!), and I love sharing Korean culture with my students. Let's make learning Korean fun and easy to understand!

I'm not comfortable with Hangul yet. Can I take class?
Yes! Absolute Beginner was made for you. You'll start with the Korean alphabet and learn to say every sound the way Koreans do. By the end, you'll read Korean out loud with a Korean Mouth (no American accent)!
I can read Korean, but slowly. Which level should I take?
Take our level test first! It'll tell you whether to start with Absolute Beginner or jump into Advanced Beginner.
What time are the classes in my time zone?
All of our class times are in New York (Eastern) time. Here's the time right now in New York and in your time zone!
How do I join the class? Is it online?
Yes, our classes happen on Discord. After you sign up, we'll help you get set up for class. You'll also receive a text reminder 10 minutes before class.
Will the class be recorded if I miss it?
Yes! We know work and life get in the way sometimes. If you miss a class, we'll send you the recording so you can catch up before the next one.
Do I have to pay again to repeat the course?
Not always! If you attend 7 out of 9 classes, we will give you a free redo of the 6-week program.
